This image shows continuous wave Doppler of the aortic regurgitation trace. The velocity time integral (VTI) of the regurgitant waveform has been traced. The calculated VTI multiplied by the effective regurgitant orifice area (calculated as shown in Table 10) estimates the regurgitant volume. Of note, on some ultrasound systems, measurement of the VTI will also provide an estimate of the peak early diastolic velocity of the AR jet
